Lost In The Dark
Part 6 : The Lonely Road
Standing in the middle of the street you begin to walk along the side of the road. The road is in the middle of a desert landscape with cacti and desert wildlife. You are again all alone and no other human being is within the vicinity. The path appears to be smooth and easy to walk along. The air is pleasant and you are kind of thrilled to be by yourself again with no one else to keep getting into your way, stepping on/over you or pushing ahead of you. Now you can relax as you are finally able to have the road to yourself. This stroll alongside the road is peaceful and quiet. The sight of the animals and plants give you a nice scenery to appreciate as you are on your journey. You stop to admire a few bunny rabbits and sit down to rest your feet. Your ankles are sore and you are exhausted from walking around for miles with no idea where you are going, or if there is an end of the road you are taking. The thoughts never stick with you and you just decided to rest, massage yourself and admire the little creatures playing with each other in the short distance from where you are at. You smile and feel entertained by the bunny rabbits in the bushes. A while now has passed and you fall asleep on the side of the road. While you are sleeping carnivorous animals sniffed you and decided to not attack you because you gave off the scent of being rotten and insipid. You wake up and are rested up for continuing the journey alongside the endless empty road.
Time flies by, you are whistling and focused on the path that you are taking. In your own mind it seems like it is going well and unlike the other scenarios, you seem to be on the clearest, most open and less overwhelming situation. Life seems to be going well for you now since you are not blinded by haze, or bad weather. Everything is calm, you can see the road is clear of obstacles and the environment is pleasant looking. This was everything that you needed to get on the right road towards wherever you are going. Though you have no goals or idea of what lies ahead, it is just conveniently less stressful than the other circumstances. To you, nothing can go wrong now. You don't need to have set the path up beforehand or required to at least have an idea of what you are doing or where you are going. Nope, you have the confidence and the luck to jump on the road and casually pace yourself to the path ahead. Resting up seems to be a consistent basis with your current route to somewhere. You have been walking around now for days, and weeks but no matter how long you have been taking your journey along this road, you are not seeing the end of the long route. You begin to feel like you might be taking the wrong road, or going in the wrong direction.
A Gust of wind blows sage bushes across the street. You feel like you have been heading in the right direction and though sometimes you just turn around to retrace a few miles from where you are. Constantly being doubtful and walking back the way you came for you don't know which thought, which direction is the best route. The road begins to reveal that it is a giant circular shaped ten mile perimeter track. You continue to ignore the signs of the realization that you are just walking around in a circle. To you there must be a connecting path to the route. You don't care about straying off trail or taking the dangerous hike through the desert wildlife.
