Lost In The Dark
Part 7 : The Long Road
You started to feel frustrated as the road seems to never end. You spot a fork in the road but never bothered to read the signs, instead you just randomly walked down the road, in which you felt like it was the right way. Though you don't question yourself or your position on the path. A car horn can be heard from behind you. It surprised you, you are startled and stood straight up with a chill down your entire body. A vehicle pulled up next to you and the window rolled down. You see a person but can't make out who they are. They ask you, “do you need a ride to your destination?” You replied back with, “yes, I have been walking around aimlessly for a while now but don't know how to get to the end of the road. Thank you for taking the time to stop and drive me to my destination”. The person lets you into the car. You buckle up and then the vehicle drives down the road. They play a radio station that you enjoy. You fall asleep because now you can get the rest that you felt you deserved. The seconds of your trip keep passing by, turning into long missed minutes of your time. As the hours keep on turning into days, then weeks, months and years of not getting anywhere on your journey. You just keep sleeping through the night and allowing someone else to drive you around. You end up in a highway system. More vehicles are driving around, alongside, behind and in front of the vehicle you are inside of. Loud noises of other vehicles rushing, turning, and merging into the lanes. Horns and yelling filled the atmosphere. You can see angry drivers, passengers and aggressive gestures. You think to yourself, “what have I been doing with my journey? I don't know what to do with all of the constant loud and angry noises. Is there anything I can do to just get on with my journey without having to go through all of the madness of my life. Like, seriously, why is it so hard to find a way to get a hold of the correct route to my destination! I don't understand how I keep getting stuck in these scenarios!” You stop thinking to yourself and began to just let the driver continue to drive your life for you, instead of continuing to listen to your inner doubts and inner self.
More time ticks away, you constantly doze off. You feel like you are making progress, though the vehicle drives you around with no luck getting off of the busy highway. Years keep passing by. You made very little progress, but it was enough to convince yourself that letting someone else drive you around, was the best choice. Now you get enough sleep, listen to music you love, and even enjoy the company of a person who is trying to help you achieve your goals. Life seems better when you let someone else take care of you. Suddenly you are startled by a sudden stop, as the driver is forced to slam the brakes. You open your eyes and see an incredibly long traffic jam of neverending vehicles. You don't know what to do.
More time is passing by, you are slowly moving inch by inch. Inside of your mind you think to yourself, “well, this can be only a slight setback. I just need to wait until the traffic clears up soon.” The person next to you stares at the scenery, then they stepped on the accelerator. Repeatedly having to suddenly place slight tension to the brake pedal. Days pass by, months, and years, you still have not seen an end to the traffic jam. You begin to resurface inside of your own mind; the doubts from before. You shake it off and forced yourself to deny the self criticism. You convinced your own thoughts, that this is the best route and that being patient was the correct decision. The person driving you around began to speak to you, “I am your inner guide. I am guiding you through the route that you desire. But you don't have any plans or idea of where you are heading, in order to reach the end of the journey. Your destination is not going to workout if you can't figure out that the traffic jam, the angry noises, the horns going off, and the vehicle, with me, driving around, with you, are all part of you! This madness is you. This traffic jam was created by you. Don't ignore the signs that lie ahead and hope for the correct route. Instead of just settling down on the one that you feel is right, due to the crowded lanes, or hazy atmosphere! You should listen to the advice that has come from your journey's experiences”. You started to get very angry at the lecture being scolded to you. You don't believe anything that was explained, and decided to burst out of the vehicle with hostility towards the words spoken to you. It made you feel like you are worthless, dumb, and naive. You run down the off ramp and entered a new city environment. This looked nothing like your own city, from where you started. It felt more alive and new, such refreshing scenery and lovely aesthetics surrounds you.
