(Part 6) The Shadow Of The Ice Kingdom

The Shadow Of The Ice Kingdom

Part 6: Hunter's Fate    --
Sam moved his family to another village far away from king Henry's jurisdiction. The village is in the furthest Southern country, thousands of miles away from the Ice kingdom, on the coast of the country called Francoso. Francoso is a country with forests covering every part of the land, even the sandy beaches are a few meters from the forest treeline.  Sam Belthor buys a house next to the ocean, "Honey I will be out hunting for game. I will bring back money from my market after I prep the meat and give you the coats when I return home at dusk." Sam steps outside, he walks to the treeline as his children head off on a carriage for the schoolhouse in the village, inside of the castle walls. Sam wanders around the wilderness, successfully capturing over twenty five different animals from the traps he set up late at night. He places the animals onto the horse carriage, straps them securely to the flatbed, hopped onto the front seat, then whips the horse. The horse walks through the forest hauling the game to the main road. Sam rides on the carriage down the main road towards the castle drawbridge. He crosses the drawbridge, rides to the market district of the castle village. He dismounts, and has his employees carry the game into the store. His butchers prep the food as Belthor cleans the animal hide off, he sets them inside of locked chests on the carriage. Time went by as he sold his animal meat to customers. The Sun began to set as the last customer exited the store with their meat products. Sam locks the money he received inside of a triple locked safe, then placed it on the flatbed of the carriage. He rides off towards the local bank, the guards escort him inside as he has the bankers safelystorede his business's money and personal valuable precious metals. Sam rides off on the carriage, he stops at the schoolhouse, picking up his kids from their school and then rides off towards his house. He arrives at home, kisses his wife, and stores the locker with the furs inside of the room where his wife turns them into fine clothing that the wealthy citizens buy from her.  They eat their dinner, and put the kids to bed. Before Sam gets ready for bed, he sets up the forest traps. Sam and his wife fall asleep on their bed.

The next morning, Sam and his family do the same routine. Sam rides to the village, sells his animal meat products, places the fur in a locker, and the money in a safe. He rides to the bank, stores the money, then picks his kids up, heads home and does the same routine over and over again. A week passed by, Sam encountered a man riding on a black horse as he was searching the wilderness for his hunter's traps. He says to himself, "That man is carrying a woman on the rear of it. The woman is bound and gagged. I don't know why but she resembles someone I think I know. I don't remember who, I need to get a closer look. I need to capture that asshole and free her from that man's possession." The man on the black horse rides into the fog as Sam disconnects the horse from the carriage, he mounts on the horse, then rides off in the direction of the mysterious man. The man on the black horse arrives at a small merchant's hotel located on the main road, six miles from the villages. He dismounts the horse, he carries the woman inside as the horse turns into a black mist, then disappears. The man approaches the hotel counter, the lady slides an envelope towards him, he pulls out a key and carries the hostage to the bedroom. Sam arrives at the hotel, he dismounts his horse, ties it up, then walks inside the hotel. He looks around as he approaches the front desk lady. "Excuse me, miss did you see a man carrying a woman bound and gagged?" The lady replies, "No, I didn't see anyone that fits that description." He purchased a room, then headed upstairs. He enters the room and waits. "I believe that the  woman is lying. I know he came in this direction. I followed the horse tracks to this place. I know that I saw him dismount the horse and enter the place. I don't know how his horse turned evanescent, but I will figure out what is going on! I swear he was carrying the princess. I remember what she looks like and her taste in fashion. I don't know who he is but I can clear my name if I capture him and save the princess from that bastard who set me up."

Late at night Sam begins to pick the locks of the hotel rooms, and searches the buildings for the man and princess. Three hours passed by, with no luck he wanders downstairs, sits at the bar, and orders a beer and glass of whiskey. He thinks to himself, "I don't understand why I can't find them? I don't understand how they can just disappear like that?" Sam asks the bartender, "Do you know a cloaked man with a black horse, and gold chains dangling from his waist?" The bartender says, "Yes, I do know someone that fits that description, but if I were you I would refrain from confronting that man. He is drinking in the private room in the back for VIP guests. He has been a special guest for years, though I don't know what he does for a living. He just gets a prepaid room and prepaid amenities. The guy is a good looking man, and muscular. He seems to resonate with trouble. I wouldn't confront him if I were you." Sam walks over to the VIP room, the bouncers stop him, Sam reaches into his pockets, pulls out five hundred dollars, and a VIP pass. He tips the bouncers as he walks inside. Sam approaches the cloaked man, sits down next to him and says bluntly, "I know you have the princess from the Western Ice kingdom of Morbay." The guy says to him, "You know nothing!" as he instantly turns ethereal and evanescent. Sam has a chill running across his entire body. He stands up, dazed, and confused as he exited the hotel, hopped onto his horse and as he was riding his horse on the main road, heading towards his home, he sees a person lying down on the side of the road. Sam dismounts his horse, approaches the body, rolls the corpse over, "Amillia. She has no pulse, she is dead." Sam hopped back onto his horse. A few merchants from Morbay looked at a wanted poster in their possession, " That looked like Sam Belthor. He is worth five hundred thousand. Dead or Alive."  The travelling merchants approached the dead body, "That is the princess from Western Morbay. She is dead. Put her body on the cart, we need to bring her to Morbay. The queen needs to know about this." The merchants stashed her body securely in a large box, locked it up and sealed it air tight.
